PC Security Issue - eBay
« on: 03 March 2009, 21:36:54 »

Whilst logging in to eBay yesterday I found another username had been typed into the box.

I am the only person to use this computer, so I'm naturally very suspicous of this.

The eBay user name is such a random name I could never have typed it, but checks out ok (they have 100% feedback rating for roughly 1500 transactions and live very far away from me).

My wifi is secure and shows nobody else using it (obviously somebody could be, but would have to be quite skilled to do so).

The question is, has my security been compromised?

(I'm using basic, free, ZoneAlarm and AVG)

Is it worthwhile reporting to eBay? etc......

Always best to report it - but ebay is so full of glitches it doesn't surprise me ---- I often get the message count on my account for the missus's account, even though we are on different computers ( same IP I guess though!

I've run Spybot, Ad-Aware etc. but nothing has come up.

Could it be something silly like eBay mixing up IP addresses?

It still just looks like a manual input though, and I'm puzzled as to how it has happened?

Very likely - Ebay is rubbish at multiple accounts on one IP address

That was down to them changing the feedback system -- before you only got 1 feedback if the same person bought from you regularly -- now they can leave multiple feedback and it is counted if its been more than a week since the same persons last feedback --- does that make sense!! ??

Anyway -- they upped all feedback accordingly

i found someone used my account to list 2 bird feeders  :D

ebay notified myself of it before i had even realised - took me ages to get back onto ebay tho because they cancelled my password so i had to go through the motons in getting it reset.

very strange because its impossible to guess my password
