bloody caravans, we all get stuck behind those awful, environmentally unfriendly burger vans  >:(

Interested to see the reasoning behind that comment... I'll be willing to bet the carbon footprint of a holiday taken in a car/caravan combo is considerably smaller than a flight and all associated things :-? :-? :-?

Just a pound mind ;) ;) ;)

Ok, so you and the Mrs take the burger van to the lakes, and me and a mate go in my car with a tent in the back...

I would easily get 30mpg, same car pulling a van? 11-15mpg.

So just getting there you pump out twice the polution, not forgetting the 500 cars behind you all doing un economical speeds on winding A roads.

You still plug into power at a campsite using Microwaves, cookers, heaters, lights, fans, all the features a hotel room has.

You mention flights, you do know the new biggest jet in the world the Airbus A380 uses less fuel per passenger than a Ford Focus?

So is more environmently friendly to fly to say the south of France, than drive, dragging a burger van.  ;)

and the carbon footprint for building said A380 ??? Very very much greater than for building my "tin-tent"

If you are going to compare correctly, you must take ALL factors into account, not just those that suit your purpose .. :)

Then just don't go on holiday, if your so bothered about Co2 emissions. We all know that it's a hyped up pile of crap to tax the crap out of everyone

Firstly... You couldn't get an Airbus A380 to the South of France.

Secondly, My car still averaged 19mpg last summer with the tin tent.

Thirdly.... I run on LPG so my car's greener anyway ::) ::) ::)

Deuce ;D ;D ;D

Using a plane doesn't piss off many people - apart from the tree hugging hippies, and those wasters don't count.

Using a pikey wagon pisses everyone off...
