I remember the Fiat 850 coupe. I had a saloon (if you could call it that), choke cable on the floor by the handbrake. Nippy little tinker, swapped it for a white HB Viva, which developed a misfire so swapped it for a very early Mini 850. Had to get in & out the passenger door as the drivers door dropped due to a rotten A panel giving the exterior hinge nothing to hang on to!!! Real world motoring @ £10/ £20 a car.
Do you remember the Fiat 125 which became the lada? >:( The 124 coupe or my personal favourite the 128 SL Coupe pre 3p? 8-)

I remember a 'competition' to get back from a restuarant (on a barge in Berko) to home (Aylesbury).  I was a passenger in my brother's MkII Golf GTI, my eldest brother had mum and dad in a 1.3 cav, and my sister on her todd in mum's 850 sport.

And who got home first....

No. That was well and truely last.  The GTI was embarrassed by the 1.3 cav - it got overtaken  on the A41(M), and the golf couldn't get passed back to Aylesbury despite better acceleration.

the fiat would have won if the road was twisty and narrow
and your sister drove like mine does (she scares the sh@t out of me)
the old cav was a great car  but i prefered the astra
and yuk to the golf ;D

Had an 850 Sport back in 1970 .. bright yellow thing ... was overtaking a truck one day.. about 85 on a dual carriageway in pouring rain ... lump of rock fell off truck and went through the windscreen (luckily passenger side and I was on my own) ... as the dual carriageway was coming to an end and I coudn't see a thing I did a pretty serious emergency stop and the heel of my foot went right through the floor !! tinworm had really got to work .. :(  had to drive with a great big hole in the floor and the spray coming in !!

Got it home and patched it up with papier mache and a load of underseal, drove it very carefully to a garage and traded it  :)

Must admit we don't suffer from the old tin worm like we did when we were younger, even in older cars, they do seem to mostly keep there floors..... :y

I remember having a mark 3 escort (first of the front wheel drive) with the bounciest back seat ever! A couple of 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" and a good coat of underseal it made 2 MOTs before the passenger seat made an entrance to the underside ;D
