Royal Mail strikes again
« on: 17 March 2009, 19:15:08 »

Anybody here work for RM and know the "ins and outs" ?

I have had a packet returned to me marked "Gone away".  The person to whom the packet was originally sent confirms that she IS living there and that the address is correct.

Can I pop the packet back in the post marked "TRY AGAIN" without paying another postage fee for a service I am not getting ??

For a company desperately trying to hold onto it's share of the market it's service stinks  >:( >:(

i'm assuming you have contacted the recipient to confirm you have the address written correctly and confirmed they still get regular mail?

if so, just complain to their local delivery office, because if they are getting the mail, there's no reason they shouldn't have recieved your parcel, and you'll most likely just get a book of stamps from RM for your troubles

you'll have to enquire when you call RM incase there's more they can do, as I haven't had such situation happen to me personally

good luck, its a shame some postpersons insist on letting the side down

Hi Danny, thanks for the advice.  Yes, I have been in contact with the recipient and all is correct on the address front.  Apparently, since a new postie has started she reckons half her mail has gone astray !!! She is taking it up locally and asked us not to re-post until she has had some sort of answer from her S.O.

Sounds like the new postie is either light fingered, lazy or stupid --- of course, it could be coincidental  ::)

even new posties shouldn't get it wrong, if they cant find an address, they should endorse the item as "awaiting enquiry" and ask someone who should know, because there'll definately be someone else who knows!!

It is intersting, our regular postie is brilliant (george) and earns his christmas 20 quid.

When hes away though, the replacment is normaly naff and very little mail turns up and almost no small packages.....as soon as george gets back a raft of mail and small packages arrive!

I could have witten that, even down to the name. I doubt we are talking about the same guy though.   :D
Our George will even sign for a package or letter, and he leaves any packages in the porch. Any fill in guy leaves a note to collect from a parcel's office which is a right pain. :-X

Luckily my postie lives around the corner so has arranged to leave packages for anyone on the estate with the local shop!

That said, if he can fit it through the letter box he just does it for me :y :y :y

Unfortunately he's retiring soon so who knows what we'll end up with! ::) ::)

Our finishing time for delivering our last item on the weekday is 14:15 Monday and Wednesday, 13:00 Tuesday, and 14:35 Thursday and Friday, so for example if you lived in my office area and your street happens to be pulled out as the last street for postie to deliver to, then it'll be close to that finishing time, if they do the round a different way and pull your street first, expect it before 10:30

times may vary for whatever the area, those stated are for mine
