[Gaffers]

Some here, esp Markey Mark, will know that I am having a mare with these oil cooler pipes.  

My problems was a leak from the oil cooler plate and to get at that I had to undo the unions by the oil filter.  Well 2 crows foot sockets later (lost the 1st one in the subframe/engine mount) and several weeks of wait I realised the unions had fused to the pipes, I didnt notice until the pipes were u/s.  

Mark sent me a new set and I cut off the old ones.  Now getting them back in is a bit of a job and so far I have stripped out the back of the engine (including DIS pack bracket) and I am about to remove the Nearside Cat.

I had left the unions on until today when I went to whip them off, the first one no problems, the second well bugger me if I could get any tool to fit.  I tried 19mm crows foot socket 19&21mm socket, 19m spanner I even used a monkey wrench!

Well I stopped and decided before I bugger the union bolt altogether I have just invested in one of these:

I am changing my oil cooler next week and intended to make a start tomorrow by removing the old one!

Sorry dude, didn't mean to put you off.  All in all though despite spending 80 quid on tools still cheaper than the stealers  

I may be up in Manchester area in a couple of months if you want to postpone until then....

Juat done an oil cooler on the V6 Elite Estate - used 19mm crows foot on oil cooler pipes - relatively easy to undo once oil filter and crank sensor removed.

Thats what I thought until the unions fused to the pipes requiring the pipes to be cut off.  Then I had to:

- remove DIS pack and shelf
- remove N/S Cat
- remove all other pipes, coolant and otherwise out of the way

The tool I ordered from Amazon.com came today from the States    and it amde short work of the remaining cut-off union bolt.  Pipes are now back in place and I shall have her back in working order tonight hopefully  

Maybe the How-to could be altered to include this eventuality?  :-/
