MOT fair tests
« on: 10 April 2009, 00:10:52 »

Following a recent post about a rubbish MOT failures, as in they are totally unfounded read  http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1239267366 I have been talking to friend of mine, He is wandering whether to negotiate with me a special MOT price for oof members with honest true MOT results (without any imaginative failures) .

He is seriously interested in this proposition but I need to know how much interest we have.

He is thinking discount to £35 for MOT test with a fair and honest MOT test offered. If it's a good car it will pass, if not he will offer competitive repairs or honest retest if repaired by you.

Tell me what you think.

(He is thinking about volume of custom) rather rip you off repairs   :y

Interesting idea, but we are scattered all over the UK and some members are in Europe and abroad.

I wont name mine but have used the same guy ofr years.  Does a fair test, like 2 years ago my headlights were fine the night before the test.  On the test I had a dipped beam out.  Inwent a new headlight bulb, test was a pass.

Went to pay for the test and the bulb, he took payment for the test and said he would see me next year......as he allways does. :y :y

Would depend on the location, TBH, but that's a 20 quid saving on the local garage for me (who are fair) so that's paid for 180 miles' worth of LPG and if there's a prospect of doing a few cars at once and having a tyre kicking session / meet at the same time it cvould be a winner IMHO.

Does he like Kit Cars? ;D

Under economic conditions I don't think he is bothered on car type, just needs revenue and mention of oof would be good enough if we can get enough interest.

Location is Milton Keynes

For purpose of calculating miles look for Midsummer Boulevard, Central Milton Keynes

Or on internet look up 'The Centre:MK' - as this is what the main shopping centre calls itself now

He is only 1 mile away

I understand that, but it could be interesting for anyone who thinks it's within reach.

There is a lot of support up north, but very little down south.

Those in europe or abroad probably won't even reply to this post

Like Skruntie says, its the location thats the problem and by the time youve paid for the fuel...Another idea might be for the forum to start a list of garages who individual forum users would recommend, that way we'd get a better coverage? Mechanics are a bit like builders in that once you find one you can trust ,know what theyre doing and doesnt try and rip you off you stick with them and they build up their customer base by word of mouth as much as anything else.

I agree, but I think that if we could build up a network of garages that would accept oof members at a good price then we would have something worth offering.

No garage is going to offer preferencial rates without regular custom, so if a register of interested users is formed then maybe it's possible
