I've splashed out
« on: 31 January 2007, 22:29:25 »

OK, MOT advice that there was an exhaust manifold leak and that the centre section was poor.  Chickened out of doing it myself + no time to even consider doing it so asked my local garage to have a look. Showed me under it and they were too afraid to even attempt taking anything off as the majority of the exhaust is like paper  :(

Everything from the down pipe, flexible coupling, CAT, centre section and rear box is knackered.

Quote of £620 followed :o  :'(  :(  >:(

Did some searches on the net :-

http://www.leisureshack.co.uk/vauxhall-exhausts.html

Full exhaust system including a ceramic CAT, with mounts, brackets and gaskets, everything,  £229

Really helpful chap, parts delivered to my local garage (half the price of their suppliers of Timax exhausts) within 24 hours.

All in all, very impressed.

Just thought I'd give them a mention.

It will be noisier......its worth considering asking them to wrap the front pipes in exhaust wrap before fitting as this makes a big difference...

Too late for the exhaust wrap.

Spoke to the mechanic that fitted it, went on very easily apparently.

Old one was  [smiley=shocked.gif]

It is nosier, slightly throatier rasp than the original one.  On a whole, quieter than the one came off, no leak from the flexi coupling and some baffles in the back box seem to make a big difference!
