Yep, and I would strongly suspect that if this does go through there will be a " Brand Review " and Vauxhall will be killed off.
The cost of branding Opel cars as Vauxhalls will , I believe , be considered by Fiat as an expensive uneccessary exercise to appease the UK market only.
The cost savings would be enormous in branding all as Opels from a dealer distributor  /parts/ marketing point of view.
There is no indiginious UK manufacturing anymore so brand loyalty is a thing of the past . It's a global market now.
This is a dark time for Motor Manufacturers and they will have to streamline to survive, as we have already began to see.
Fiat will be able to use the extraordinary situation that the market is in to make sweeping changes.

Remember the phrase " A new broom sweeps clean "

I think there will be alot of water flowing under the bridge before the start using Fiat parts/engines to be honest, its more likely a boardroom battle rather than a technical one. :y

The truth is Fiat have lost £400 million this year with a loss making organisation, so how on earth can they even save themselves let alone Opel / Vauxhall.  Pipe dreams surely??!! ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ;)

The 1.9 cdti in the Vectra/Signum is a Fiat engine so I assume other engine types will be as well. They seem capable of very high miles and whilst mine is a little noisy at low speed/idle it runs silently in motorway conditions and is very impressive on 3rd  and 4th gear acceleration for the engine size v weight of car (i.e. my Signum).
