I've had to do that since June 1994 big lad but seriously it is a good idea, I  would prefer to have the choice over what, but more importantly how,  parts are extracted

But you do have the choice.

Buy a written off car.
Pay them £40 to remove the engine and box properly.
Strip the shell yourself in 7 hours.
Walk away.

I had a look at the Inverkeithing site, 3.0 Elite for £100+vat!

That would be a certain money maker. imho.

That sounds like a good plan. Roll up mob handed and decend on the cars like a shoal of phiranas, and strip them bare!
