We've been operating our two policies that way for years, the wife as owner/main driver, me as named driver. Never had any trouble.
Wife had 9 years NCD on one policy and 14 years on another. I've just started a policy with autotrader. Said I wanted to be the main driver but the wife had all the NCD. No problem sir, we'll just transfer her no claims over to you.

I have the kit car and Omega insured separately. Kit car company honoured the main car's NCD when I started it but it now has full NCD of its' own.

Mrs. KW insured as a named driver on both policies. Not aware of any issues with doing that. :-/

I think many companies will give all or some NCD on second or third car, after all, you can only drive one at a time. Many companies will give you a discount even on your first insurance if you can evidence a clear record, company car drivers as an example.

You had me a bit woried with the named driver bit, but that seems to have been overcome.....

AFAIK you can have NCD applied to two cars if they are both with the same company.
