Boks escape Lions' jaws

"Dominant pack ensures slender win for South Africa" ...Yeah right >:(  Apparently the referee was abysmal. Vickery took a pounding and looked old and out of it...but the ref was missing the binding errors etc from his opposing No.
Should be a different story with the 2nd test. The B&I Lions will know what to expect.
C'mon lads  :y

Sadly Turk - unless you saw it you wouldn't agree with that synopsis. :( :(

After 20 mins I was scared the boks would put 40+ points on the board but there was a definite bias towards the Boks in the scrums from the referee. The "beast" was not pushing straight and forced Vickery up or in to the hooker every time. Vickery is 6'3" tall (so they said) but when the shorter Alun Jones came on he couldn't get away with the same.

Some tremendous performances especially by BOD & Roberts in the centre and Phillips at Scrum Half but the boks tired in the 2nd half and replaced 5 or 6 big names which allowed the Lions back into it.

Saying that we dropped the ball / were held up 3 times over the try line and Jones missed a number of kicks.

We could have won it but I fear next week - at altitude - and the boks with a game under their belt - will probably be too strong  :(

Didn't see it. Had it on Text Highlights on BBC sports, no Sky at work.
Yeah, it was pointed out that the referee was abysmal with the scrum.

Will you get the chance to see a re-run? If not let me know and I'll record the re-run later and cut it to a DVD for you if you pm me your address.

Vickery has been a disaster for a long time now - Jones deserved to start - Vickery should pack in - terrible selection error and was result critical

Vickery should have been replaced during the first half when it was clear he couldent hack the punishment from his opposite.  If the ref aint gonna go your way then its pointless arguing, change tactics and move on/over.

I was almost going to switch off during the second half they were that abysmal but then it picked up and what a finish!  I was on tenderhooks  :D :D
