I'm soooo chuffed
« on: 21 February 2007, 21:36:50 »

[size=12]with my new car. This is the first Vauxhall I.ve ever had and I'm really impressed. I usually drive Mercs and I was surprised how smooth the Omega Estate is. I think it is a better automatic than a manual but...hey..what the heck!

This forum is excellent. Thanks for your help and advice. Just one thing, we need to be careful about the impression the site gives to newbies. The first bit is full of people blabbing on about faults and costs. We forget that potential joiners read the site and they might get the idea that we spend all our time checking our hbv's...whatever the !£$^!£ a hbv is!

I get nearly 30mpg for my commute, in comfort and speed in a cheap-to-buy car with all the bits and pieces you need

Glad you found the light to the true path, Chris!

Yes, they are good cars and, if you keep on top of things, reasonably reliable.

Fair comment about the HBV initiation test for newbies though!

ps - Its a Heater Bypass Valve, in case you were not joking......     ;)

Its a sad fact that many owners only find us when they have a problem - why search on Internet if you haven't a problem?  Hence, the problem section is near the top...

For me the most valuable thing here is the pragmatic advice, for example on the need to clean out the breathers regularly.

Haynes is ok (I know it has its detractors and can be infuriating,  but as a basic how to take things apart and put back together it does a pretty reasonable job),  but doesn't go into the real world of diagnostics and practical preventative maintenance much at all.

So cracking job chaps.

I just followed Mark, Dave, Jaime, & Finlay from the dark side, prior to that I use the Yahoo group - problem sorting
