[Vamps]

I suffer from reoccurring health problems stemming from the Big 'C'
Increasingly I am not managing to get my fitness/stamina/immune system up to full strength between periods of illness. Need more physical activity so have bought a Push Bike, and had a nice big comfy seat fitted to it.
Miss Vamps is looking forward to going on bike rides, for me it will be over 30 years, so will start of gently. :-/ :-/

Also need to get some bloomin weight On, not being as rotund as many of our members

Just take it steady at 1st Mike, then maybe after a few hours you can take the stabelizers off.










take it steady and keep safe. hope the weather picks up so you can enjoy the rides.

Keep promising I'll get my bike out every summer. :-/

Problem is we live at 600 ft above sea level, and the surrounding land in every direction is at about 200 ft. I never go anywhere because I'm dreading the last 1/4 mile on the way home.

Now, weight gain I could probably help with.

Since you have a couple of Omega's get yourself to Holland!

Make a bit of a road trip out of it, Cycling in Holland is a joy! They have proper cycle lanes, and have rules like for the road, i got told off for going down one in the wrong direction 

Its also all totally flat, and can cover vast distances easily.

Get out of the cities and the country side is just super, really is a very nice country to cycle though

Try the Sustrans cycle track network, no traffic, no danger and for the first few rides no embarrassment as it is quiet. The one in Chester-le-street is easy to get onto,it follows the old Sunderland to Consett rail line ( trains cant climb steep hills ) and it takes you through some nice countryside on the way. If you need to know the easiest access points let me know.

Canal towpaths are also good as long as they're reasonably quiet.

Sorry to hear of your continuing health issues Mike!

I have just rejoined a gym, and you may find the routine of going and having a personal fitness instructor to guide you would be more helpful than a push bike run every so often.

If the health club has a pool, then using that will also help you significantly if my past experience is anything to go by. 

The added advantage is also you are never alone, unlike on a push bike, and can seek aid if necessary.

Just keep at it, it does get easier... I've just come back from a 40 miles bike ride to the Isle of Sheppy for an ice cream...

Just get one with an engine mike,much easier on the legs but keeps the pulse rate high at all times.

Thats what me and my father in law do normally mate,up and down the canals.Brilliant cant beat it.

Well, went out tonight, very wobbly Miss Vamps was laughing   Did about 3 miles, quite a long drag on the way back, stopped a couple of times Miss Vamps hardly broke a sweat by the time we got home, my legs were like Jelly, good fun though and enjoyed my time with Miss Vamps.  Round the village tomorrow.....

As someone involved in railway preservation pootranse are the enemy.

They are trying as hard as they can to run cycle paths along existing preserved railways, and making life difficult for preserved schemes. This includes removing ballast from just north of Broadway station!

Good stuff. I know I'd have broken a sweat after 3 miles in today's weather.
