Thank goodness it's not your back door that's stained brown.
I would recommend you to stay off the roughage.

My front door is painted Oxford Blue. 

It's wood, with a metal sheet on the outside.  Don't know why - because about half of the total surface area is glass.  So it's not to prevent break-ins, as anyone with hammer can get straight through it. 

And if they couldn't, the back door is also glazed, and the lower panel seems to be made of plywood - quite easy for fitting a cat flap, but not exactly secure.

And we live in very low-crime rural area, anyway.

My front doar is white and I have two back doars one in the kitchen and one in the dinner, both white, we dont use the one in the kitchen as its only one meter away from the other.
