It makes me soooo angry that i have to. None of this is my doing, but i'm the one paying the price for what i see as useless managment of this country.

i was claiming sickness benefit for 5 months, according to the belfast office none of my certificates made it to there office, they kept ringing my doctor for conformation until the surgery made a complaint about them. still went on only they just stopped my money for 5 weeks cause they wouldnt ring them no more. i now seem to be 780 in debt to the council now because of this and cant get it sorted out because there not interested in dealing with it. and im not the only one having probs with this office. im waiting for a summons to court so i can rip them apart.

I've been doing it for a year now.  Relatively painless, but they won't find you a job and they stop paying you after six months.

The biggest difficulty is that the client advisers (or whatever they call themselves), like call centre operators or Comet staff, can't answer any question outside the very limited script that they have been trained to work to.

And you need to fill in a form to go on holiday - which has to be in the UK or else you are deemed to be "not available for work".

Terrible , and not uncommon Richie!!  Just make sure you keep an accurate record of all proceedings encountered so you have all the information you need legally for any actions you wish to take

I gave up signing on, I don't get anything but I was told to still sign on for my stamp. It cheesed me off when they would give you jobs to apply for which are £5.75 an hour stocking shelves because I used to be in retail about 15 years ago. I asked for some money towards an asbestos training course which has just cost me £750 (on a credit card) and they said no but they will make me apply for low paid jobs
