Well thats it, last day!
« on: 18 September 2009, 15:58:11 »

Today is my last day at my current job, i start with Sky on Monday  :)

Managed to get the company card out for my leaving drinks last night, nice heathly tab behind the bar, still have a bit of a head ache, wonder if it was the 18 Vodka shots that did it  ::)

Very pleased with the turn out, leaving the office yesterday it looked like no one was comming  :'(

About half the company turned out in the end, no doubt cause their was free booze  ;D

Nervous about leaving, the people i work with are great, lunches with people from all teams (java/php/commerical/design) all going togther. What other job lets you play Mario Kart for over an hour on top of your lunch break!

But it had to be done, i was not learning anything new and the company is taking a very bad direction with its new platform, so time to move on.

Really looking forward to the new job its more techy than what i do now, bit more in depth into server environments, clusters, load ballancing, IIS, TCP, UDP, ACL Firewalls. I don't actually have some skills they required but my mobile background got me, so looking forward to some training courses as well.

All fairly straightforward, doubt you'll need courses for any of that, as its all basic stuff (maybe except clustering, though thats dead easy if its Windows, bit more geeky under unix)

My interview question related to load ballancers, although a very basic on.

IIS & Tomcat should be interesting, Not done much on those, although i suspect i will just turn it off and on again, that usually does the trick  ::)

I like geeky! Its going to be unix, they used to have a Windows system managed externally but they are brining everything in house to Unix system.

You'll struggle like hell to run IIS under any variant of Unix ;)

Good decision.. Now you need to spend serious time with the related documents and books..But I also must note these subjects all together too much for one person..So you need to focus on some of them to go in depth.. :y

They are in a migration process, so still get to use iis for a while.
