WIREFREE & SOLAR ALARMS
« on: 04 March 2007, 16:02:11 »

Been checking these out to take to Thailand, as it appears they are not hard wired and run off the lithium battery for 5 years. Have checked out some solar alarms, but most of them also need to be hard wired, anyone knows of any decent ones or comments would welcome any feedback :y

I used to sell wireless alarms a few years ago.....did quite a few installs....but they needed power supply for main control box....and outside sirens/strobes needed hardwiring too....

Only PIRS / remotes / code entry system were cordless

So carnt really comment on this system......but bear in mind you will need pet lenses for the PIR's if you have animals....they angle the beam of the PIR's to about 4 foot off the floor......so cats dogs can wander about and not set off the alarm.

I would recomend the phone dialler tho.....i used to sell these.....program it with your mobile number...and it will call you if the alarm goes off  :y

My parents have an alarm with wireless sensors, wired bell box, dialler and control unit. It works very well AFAIK. I'm sure, like anything electronic, there are good ones and there are rubbish ones. Next time I'm over at my folks' place I'll find out what one they've got.

Easy to install but, a pain in the arse to maintain.....not that convinced about the security of these either having seen the bell box off a local cricket club buried in a hole on the out field following a robbery....

If it was me I would probably buy a Texecom Excel or similar and with the money saved pay somebody to run the wires in...
