Gately funeral
« on: 17 October 2009, 12:34:05 »

Sky news has devoted the whole day to it ffs.BBC news isnt much better.Would understand it if he was off the same calibre as Elvis or even Michael Jackson, but this is just ridiculous.Have we as a society really sunk to the level of giving over whole TV channels to the funeral of a C-list celebrity has been ? or is it the gay mafia who seem to run most of showbiz and the media force feeding it to us ? >:(

By and large ......I agree with you though....He was just a pop star.
Now ..if he was the guy who found the cure for cancer then...........................that would be more appropriate.......

Two problems.

1. The marketing mafia who run everything. In the exponential society we live in everything HAS to be bigger, better, more impact, bigger audiences etc than yesterday. No other news (considered worthy enough) so major air time devoted to his funeral.

2. Worse. I suspect there is a huge market out there who want, nay demand this sort of prime time drivel. Witenss the proliferation of Hello Ok type mags. Pity just a few folk aren't more interested in real news like the supermarkets screwing the very nuts of their suppliers to alledgedly give the shopper what "she" wants - the very cheapest prices possible regardless of the cost to jobs etc whilst of course maintaining their own fat profits.

back to the facts, he went on an all night bender, drank way to much which most likey killed him.

If he was at home reading a book with just a single beer, would he have died? Unlikey.

The media is painting this is a 'accident' and 'tradigedy' which is not the way to do it, they should be saying, look what happens when you binge drink!
