PAY PAL SCAM E-MAILS ..BEWARE>>>
« on: 19 March 2007, 20:04:23 »

 Folks PLEASE READ....
Several days ago I received an e-mail, from ( interPAYPAL.com )  it carries reference to an actual transaction on e-bay, a U.S customer buying a laptop from a UK company.. they had my e-mail address mentioned within the scam pay pal page.. there was a link tab labled REFUND, the text said if you do not agree with the transaction click here for a refund.....  guess what?  I'd no bloody intention to press it!

So, BEWARE

If its anything like mine last year... when you click the refund page it takes you to a page asking for username and password, this is a bogus page that i think DOES NOT log your login details, you can type in any old cack and it'll take you to the "loading details" page that you'd see when you enter your correct login details on the genuine paypal site, but the bogus site takes you to a page asking for your card details INCLUDING PIN! people actually fall for that!

I knew from the e-mail alone that it was a scam and i let my curiosity navigate me through the pages, and changed my login details on paypal, then messed about using any made up username and password, and faffed about using stupid non-existant card details

then i reported it!

i'd apparently bought a digital camera for $47.52!!

Yeah, common scam, get several a day...  ...if people are daft enough to click on a link in an email, there is little hope for them anyway.

I have to frequently send my users a 'don't do this' mail at work, thinking about removing e-mail access for some of them completely soon, they drive me nuts! "Sorry, you're too stupid too understand after being told 20 times in the last month and still not getting it, have some slate and heres some chalk, enjoy."
