He then tried to take the car out of gear but it would not budge - and when he tried to pull out the key it would not turn in the ignition.

I mind once working on a sulzer 6lda (railway engine) that the turbo bearing went on engine wouldn't shut down injesting its own oil via turbo run for about 4 hours until it burnt 410L of oil :o
