For those REALLY staying in the cold
« on: 22 December 2009, 23:26:22 »

It's been all over the radio today, those who REALLY have no shelter. Not all are alkies or junkies, some have had it all & lost it through divorce/redundancy/mental health etc.
Life is never pleasant for such folk at any time of year but it must be a bitter pill to swallow now. Imagine walking around any town with all the shops & adverts without a door key in your pocket. We all take forgranted turning on the tap for water, lightswitch for leccy, hot shower/bath washing machine & cosy bed that we hate getting out of but are fortunate enough to get in.
Sorry to go on but the radio made me think today.

I understand your sentiments ...... but I find it hard to reconcile those sort of statements with the amount this present government (ie you and me) are piling into "social services" and other "social" payments.

With the Billions of pounds of yours and my money being provided .. just how are there folks in such a state wandering around ???

Just shows that someone, somewhere is not doing what they are paid to do .... to look after the less well off properly, instead of feathering their own nests all the time.

rant over

The difference between our gross & net is spent on those that don't need it but choose to live that way & pop another kid out here & there just to qualify for benefits & don't want to work. The folk i'm thinking of are sleeping out tonight, had no supper, will have no brekky but would give anything to rent a little room & do any job on minimum wage.
I don't care about the junkies but some are cold & hungry through circumstance/bad luck etc. Our taxes should be spent on those who want to work, pay for thier bed & improve thier lives, but it all seems to be spent on the spongers who have made a career of NOT working for a living like the rest of us.
