I stopped to help a woman change a flat. She was just stood staring at it. When I got out to ask if she wanted a hand she ran round the car and got in and locked the door. She looked terrified. Sad sign of the times.

Hope you left her to change her own tyre in that case.

Would like to say I changed it while she sat there and watched, but no, I waved nicely and left her to it.

On a brighter/funnier note, I once saw a lady in a suit holding a 1l can of oil on a forecourt  when I went to pay for my petrol. She was still there when I came out, still looking. I offered and she said thanks very much. I took of the filler cap, pored the oil in and as I checked the dipstick she asked what I was doing. I said checking the level- its a bit low but it will get you home so you can buy some better priced oil.
Guess what she said....

Been a 10 mile walk with Mutley earlier, we walked to Huthwaite & back.
Now this was all across fields & footpaths, but near Huthwaite i saw a lone female, around 20 years old. She was far from anywhere & i thought she was lost & so i asked if she was ok & if she was lost. She replied no i'm ok thanks. Now i could've been a mad axeman or some sick pervert & could've done whatever i wanted.
I started my journey home & she followed me at a distance, i occasionaly very carefully glanced over my shoulder to make sure she was ok as not to let her know i was looking. When i got the road i went on my way because i knew she was back with people & my mind was at ease.
I've no idea why she was out there all by her self & i hope she doesn't make a habit of it :(
There's far to many sickos or i'm i just over reacting?
Had an experience a few years ago,not long after the Soham school caretaker killed the two school girls. Was working on the outskirts of a small village in west Wales, repairing a BT box about 100 yds up a lane when a little girl about 4 or 5 came up behind me and said hello.I was shocked at first then felt very angry, firstly because I felt in a vulnerable position and that a parent could allow a small child out of their sight after what had just happened.I asked her where she lived, which was just around the corner and took her home, where I went ballistic with her mother.Picture it,I was parked out of sight of the road with my side door open and it would of taken seconds to abduct the child and be gone.I felt angry and frightened for days after.

Yes, you are over reacting.   Why did you assume that she was lost? were you lost? she was probably just out for a walk like you were all by yourself ;D

I wasn't lost, seeing as i used to cycle that way to work every day. She was walking around & acting like she wasn't sure which way to go. I was walking my dog & so wasn't alone ;)
