Although we haven't had much of the snow which was forecast this morning I still think I made the right decision... They're still not working ::) ::)

Mind you... I could have made a few quid more playing cards had I gone in :-X :-X ::) ::) ;) ;)

Sent the majority of the workforce home at 12:30, including all the people who lived "in the sticks" having done no work whatsoever :o :o :o

Looks like my decision was right... I'd have had the right hump if I'd spent all day there with my thumb up my arse ;) ;) ;)

Funniest thing is... The docks do not recognise any licence not issued by their own training department so, even though I had a 15 Tonne Forklift Licence I wasn't allowed to drive a forklift. Today they have decided to try and hire some JCB's for snow clearance and were asking everyone if they have a JCB license... Talk about changing the rules when it suits them ::) ::) >:( >:(

Incidentally... Everyone denied all knowledge of how to drive one ::) ;D ;D

I do indeed :y :y :y

The reason for operation stack this time is the heavy snow... There's about 8" laying and they've run out of salt ;D ;D ;D

As for the wind... I used to think that but having been up a crane when the wind was blowing 45mph (at 10m above ground), the safe limit, it's not a pleasant place to be ;) ;)

As a quick update to this thread, I've checked my electronic payslip online this evening and today has been paid as "Unspecified Authorised Absence" :y :y :y
