Me being boring again...
« on: 16 January 2010, 22:59:37 »

I have been berated many times by some members on here for banging on against the AGW theory. People have either expressed complete disinterest, or poked fun at me by suggesting that I am a fantasist who was denying “real” science. :(

For those who do not take those views, here is some amazing bits taken from today’s/tomorrow's news:

World misled over Himalayan glacier meltdown
A WARNING that climate change will melt most of the Himalayan glaciers by 2035 is likely to be retracted after a series of scientific blunders by the United Nations body that issued it.

Taxpayers' millions paid to Indian institute run by UN climate chief
Millions of pounds of British taxpayers' money is being paid to an organisation in India run by Dr Rajendra Pachauri, the controversial chairman of the UN climate change panel, despite growing concern over its accounts.

The mystery of the vanishing weather stations
GISS and NOAA took their temperature data from 6,000 weather stations around the world. By 1990, though, this figure had mysteriously dropped to 1500. Even more mysteriously this 75 per cent reduction in the number of stations used had a clear bias against those at higher latitudes and elevations.
For example:
There has not been any thermometer data for Bolivia in GHCN since 1990.
None. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Nothing. Empty Set.
So just how can it be so Hot Hot Hot! in Bolivia if there is NO data from the last 20 years?
Easy. GIStemp “makes it up” from “nearby” thermometers up to 1200 km away. So what is within 1200 km of Bolivia? The beaches of Chili, Peru and the Amazon Jungle

Something rancid is beginning to smell...and it isn't me. ;)

Just shows how we are being conned, and what a "money making" machine the whole climate change thing has become ...

TBH .. most people haven't got a clue who or what to believe any more, so have simply lost interest....  :(

Most of the folks I work with see the whole thing as either another way for government to raise taxes, or politicians/scientists lining their own pockets.

Apathy rules ???

Uncle Zulu is reasonably well balanced this evening and whilst I'm well aware of how this scandal is now beginning to be revealed for all those - who are sufficiently interested - to see, I'll refrain from getting too involved at the moment.

However, this is far from a boring subject as the culmination of this government's infatuation with it will cost every one in the nation, including all members of this forum, dearly in terms of financial penalty and loss of personal freedom.

Of course it'll be too late by that time to complain thanks to the dangerous and irresponsible measures being proposed by our current administration and the generally disinterested stance adopted by a worryingly large number of people.

Well Nick ......my views on global warming are well documented on this forum.
.......as you know .....I believe it to be real  .....the bulk of  information over the last thirty years or so seems to support this.
However.....there is still much ambiguous data floating around which muddies the waters a little.
.......by the way.....you posts are not boring....I enjoy them. ...........just don't expect me to agree with you on climate change..(at this point in time)....... :y :y :y :y
