I am now getting something I have not seen since my days long ago using AOL on Windows 98, BSOD... Blue Screen Of Death!!!!!!

I am getting the following error message

SPCMDCOM.sys PAGE IN NON PAGE AREA
Someone Help, it's driving me crazy
That comes up on BLUESCREEN and Windows Re-Boots

The Page in nonpage area fault indicates some sort of memory issue (it could be physical or virtual memory).

had something similar happened to me ...i used my xp disc and repaired it...i think?

May be caused by faulty RAM.  First remove memory sticks (care in handling), clean contacts (use a rubber gently) and reseat.  If not cured could be a faulty stick. 

Unlikely to be a serious virus !!!

imho not a virus, either a hardware error (probably ram ) or a faulty device driver..

I get a popup box telling me I need to install and pay for a virus protector or something.
I have no icons on desktop.
And when I try and install any programme the viruses stop them installing.
I am off to Cardiff later, will take PC with me and get it wiped and re-install Windows

i have had the blue screen of death for ages now. i have a faulty hardrive, its in the manufacture as ive checked it out. doesnt cause me any bother though, so this will do till i need to get another.

I had the same problem a couple of weeks back and ended up rebootin the laptop,as i couldent get rid of the pop up no matter what i did,and now i am having more trouble with it freezing and taking a couple of mins between clicks,any ideas,i have tried scanning and cleaning,to no avail. :-/

As the Windows kernel is pretty mature, all BSODs are either faulty hardware or poor device drivers.

User mode code (applications etc) cannot cause a BSOD.
