I had a '73 3 lit V6 GXL Granny in metallic green - went like an express train.  Only probs on that motor were inlet manifold gaskets going at 40K.  Also timing had to be spot on or performance dropped!! Remember running length of M4 at 110 mph no probs!

Just a thought, but, I know someone who put a Cos into a MKII Grandad, and, I recall that the engine mountings were spot on, and, the same as the MKI Grandad, the permitations are endless  ::) ::) ::)

Oh! Yes, and the LSD's will fit too, but, the gearbox mounts were in the wrong place as the C3 box was shorter!

Now you've got me started...  :-X

Pretty sure the old Corsair had the 1700 v4. Cologne engine started as 2.8 and later was 2.9 iirc.
whatever engine they hed in them, the engines were sh1te and the cars were horrible old rotboxes imo. :)
Correct, IIRC no Cortinas used the V engine
Pretty sure there was a v6 mk4/5 cortina - 2.3 ? :-/
Yes there was a mk4 2.3, I had a couple. It was the only European Cortina to have a v6. (Apart from the savage mk2)
The v4 1700 was only fitted to Corsairs and early Transits and I think some early mk4zephyrs. later increased to 2 litre and then also fitted to mk1 capri 2000 gt's, zephyrs, and consuls. I think the Cologne engine started as a 2ltr v6 in the taunus.
As you all know i love my old Fords as much as my Mig. BV is right & has just said everything i was going to say although the only Zephyr to run a v4 was the last box shape one (Executive body but lower spec 2.0) & the only Consul fitted with the 2.0 v4 was the base model Mk1 Granada shape. Yes Mk1 2.0 Capris ran the V4, yet the 1600gt's & l xl models ran the crossflow ala Mk2 Cortina 1600E. No Mk3 Cortinas ran the v4 (thank break) but the first pre facelift slopey dash, late 71 to early 73 ran pintos on both 1600GT & all 2.0 models but the base, L, & XL 1600's were all x-flows until 73/4 when the facelift Mk3 with the Mk4 dash arrived then all were pintos exept the 1300 x-flows which ran to the last Mk5 Cortina in 83/34.
I could go so much further back with MK1, 2 & 3 Consuls (got one) Zephs/Zodies, Pops, Prefects Anglias... the first Escorts were Popular shape in the late 50's & the first Capri was a 2 door version of the classic that was a Cortina sized 4 door with the same rear window as the Harry Potter Anglia (105e) & shred the same range of 4cyl in pre x-flow engines....I'll shut up now...before we enter side valve territory. I'm sadder than a train spotting trekkie where old Fords are concerned & always will be! :D ::) 8-)
