friends nan died sunday as i said. went there yesterday to help clear the house out to go back to council. i have never seen so many dead mice or droppings in my life, poor old woman was in her 80s and the home help in my opinion should be ashamed of themselves. she had been laying dead for 2 days as when they went round friday to see here, they couldnt get in but noticed her asleep in her chair so they left her. next day stil in her chair same position. did it not occur to them that something was wrong and call the family to let them in. was so sad to see how she has lived in the last few weeks of her life.

would you believe the council turned up for the stuff they give her. comode and other stuff, they even took the bed which had mould and mouse droppings on it, bloke said they would clean it up and give it to someone else. absolutely shocking

Disgusting, should be reported to local councillor at least, if not council ombudsman.
And not a moment should be wasted, some other poor pensioner could be sleeping on that bed by weeks end.
I, personally would be on the phone to my councillor straight away, and asking about WHY the home help did NOTHING.

I would also send a copy of all correspondence to your/their local MP. That is just scandalous.

Families need to agree to contact vulnerable family members on daily basis and inspect property as often as possible. We do this with both sets of parents all now in their 80s and making use of care services.

One problem I have noticed with ours is that they minimise the issues saying oh don't bother I can deal with it when in fact they cannot. Neverthless regarding clear problems like mice droppings etc there is no excuse for social not reporting on it as a matter of urgency. Agree investigation required.

there is going to be an inquest into her death as far as im aware, she was discharged from hospital thurs and friend said its the 2nd time shes been in hospital last couple of weeks. when she was found her body was purple and blue.

There will be a discharge sheet and hospital are supposed to ensure  that person discharged has necessary support at home.

dont know what shes doing yet
