"OFFICIALS decided it was a too risky for workmen to lift a dumped mattress – so they hired a JCB to do the job."

What's worse is that this madness is held up around the world as an example of what could happen when things go politically wrong! What an embarrassment for us.

You act as if you're surprised Nick. I watch quite a few american news channels and they've been sniggering for years. Who can blame them?

theres a mattress out on the grass been there for 3 days. kids dont mind as they play on it, but doesnt say much for there parents letting them though

It's all very well for the yanks to snigger, but it's all thanks to their stupid litigation culture that was imported over here that people now won't even wipe their noses without carrying out a risk assessment.

They're all scared sh1tless about being sued if someone breaks a fingernail doing something.....

well done to the box tickers at Bolton Council - looks like they're helping the new government make some of the cuts easier
