Sky - Question for TUnnie

Is it right they are only selling HD boxes now.

Is it true HD will be free?

Dad had Sky installed a couple of weeks ago --- "standard" sky+, but they installed the HD box. I assumed it was because they thought it would be easier to convince him to upgrade later on and get the extra rental  ::)

Just been having a nosy through my account. seems the box was fitted 06/06//09

can't confirm either sorry, but Virgin Media are giving away HD content for free, so its highly likely Sky will follow suit. They are still giving out Standard+ boxes, thats going to continue as far as i know.

Lets hope we start saving £10 a month very soon then, and even better, if the drop the movie pack down to a tenner they can have the tenner a month back again.

I changed from VM to Sky a few weeks ago, saved a little bit of money and getting slightly more channels. Had V+hd, now have Sky+hd. The sky box was free, an offer until the end of the month i believe, although i think the monthly subscription is more than if it were a normal box.
Must say though, the V+HD box is so much easier to use, has 3 tuners rather than 2 and i miss on demand. The additional memory of sky doesnt bother me as i delete shows after watching anyway.

A 3rd tuner would be nice, or even having the bloody standard aerial plugged in during bad weather conditions, bloddy installer cut the plug off and left the lead outside. :-/

iPlayer / ITVPlayer / 4oD ect.... don't have to cram it all into 40gb  ;)

How do you get iplayer/4od content on it? the majority of content in anytime i can see right now is on sky channels i dont even subscribe to.
Maybe because i haven't had the phonel ine and new internet installed yet?
