idle problem
« on: 08 August 2010, 12:25:20 »

Hi to all, I wonder if anyone can help me , :-[  the car keeps cutting out on tick over. I have a 2.5 elite w reg i have had it plugged in to a diagnoses machine and it came back with no codes so i was told that it could be a breather pipe blocked or split  so i took all the pipes out and checked for splits nothing found :question :question :question. Any help would be great.

Take off the ICV (horizontal looking can on the passenger side of the plenum, alloy thing with ECOTEC on it) give it a good soaking inside with carb cleaner, swish it around, keep doing it until your happy its cleaned out. Also make sure the little flap which is in the hole that goes into the plenum moves and isn't caked up. It moves the opposite way than you might think. You will see a little gap, well with a small screw driver on the flap push it asthough you were trying to close the gap. You will need another screw driver to push it all the way.

Hope that helps :y
