Watching some idiot from the Labour party on the news this morning re tomorrows budget, explaining that it's going to be cheaper to import items like gherkins & marmalade & that could save families around 40 pence on their shopping bills !  Where on earth do these idiots exist amongst us ?

Yes, but what they failed to state is that it will also be cheaper to import items we grow here, which will screw over the farmers even more

As DTM alludes to, helping our own producers/manufacturers compete would be a better start.  Surely recent global events have taught us we need to be more self-sufficient?

But, no, the Lefties, including the previous few tory governments, have felt building on our green fields is a better way to fix the country

How about culling HS2.

That will save each taxpayer about £2k for build costs, and around £400 per taxpayer per year for running subsidies.

Frequently.  But the train spotters can't see the issue with blowing all our money on it.  Particularly that scouse train driver who I had to ban in the end, because his "independant" research came straight from ASLEF and a train oriented podcast.

I'm pretty sure when Queen Vicky held the reins (1837-1901) this island was far more self-sufficient than it is today.

These days we have an attitude of 'we don't need to produce X, Y, or Z because we can get it from somewhere else in the world'......until we can't.
