Luckily when I bought SWMBO's car I know there weren't any in UK stock ;) ;)

Reckon we had it on the drive within about 3 weeks of being built :y :y

I seem to recall that back in the 70s or 80s there were huge dumps of 'surplus to the market' new cars (either Fords or Vauxhalls) siting in fields. Car hire companies were obtaining these cars direct from the manufacturers at silly prices to have reistered, used for a few thousand miles, before being sold on through the newly new second hand market ::) ::) ::)

This way the car companies were 'losing' their over-production.

Anyone else remember this and the exact details? :-/ :-/

A few years ago i used to use a car hire/lease place in nottingham somewher and the cars were very competitivly priced the only snag was it had to be returned with less than 6000 on the clock if you got close they picked it up and gave you another new one.

I know this had something to do with pre registering and being able to sell it on afterwards.
