I've already got my vengeance worked out should anything like this happen to anyone I know. The old saying: if you want something doing, do it yourself! In this case, it is justice, as the police and judicial system don't appear to be fit for purpose!

No doubt the police officers involved would have put a lot of work into this, with enormous amounts of paperwork produced to support the evidence, and the CPS agreeing to take it to court.  No, what has gone wrong is yet again a court led by a very liberal judge has failed to fully apply the sanction it could have applied, with the victim and the general public given no justice.  No wonder this monster is laughing!! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

No doubt they did, but police put less and less effort into their job as they know what the outcome will be, and who can blame them - they still get paid at the end of the month! But generally speaking I stand by what I said about the police being unfit for purpose. I should know I used to be one and very often come into contact with them still.

Whether or not it's their own fault, that's a different matter. They have their hands tied by do gooders and stupid restrictive laws, nevermind PACE, and the liberal attitude that has swept the nation. Back to basics, I'm not against anyone, but for example, you have lots of big men creating disorder, two 5'6" women turn up (assuming they aren't single crewed), they have no chance of returning to and maintaining order, baton/spray or no baton/spray. Just one example, which people might use to call me sexist, not at all.
From my experience of dealing with the police they just aren't interested, and don't like it when you try to do your civic duty!

He picks his fights. As Majestic said earlier bet he's not so brave if he's being hit back. I simply don't understand how anyone can do this to a frail old man & the fact he walked from court is inexcusable. If there's one thing i despise above all else it's bullying & this must be one of the worst cases.
I'd go toe to toe with the little scrote, see how he likes it but i guess i'll have to join the queue! >:(

Yes, I'm afraid that there's merit in most of the things G says here.

I'm dismayed to say that there's something seriously wrong with the current attitude to duty found in many serving officers presently.

The reasons behind this are varied but the nett result is that the public seems to being short-changed in what they can rightly expect from the constabulary.

If police officers are either not interested or inefficient in apprehending wrongdoers, questions need to be asked.

The political aspirations of many of those in ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) have been an unwelcome visitor for some time now.

I should add I'm not anti police though, far from it, I think it's great when they turn up in force and get the bad guys. They get stick from all sides and it's a thankless job, and compared to police in alot of other countries, I'd take our police though! It'd better if they toughened up though and stopped being everyones 'mate'

We are all having a go of sorts at the pillock that did this, and also the police, but is it not time the judges/magistrates/etc came under vicious scrutiny.
They and flash-gobbed lawyers are the ones mostly to blame. Nine times out of ten, the lawyers are more guilty than their clients, and the use of the statement 'let off due to a technicality' is heard of more and more.
Judges must also start dishing out punishments to fit the crime >:(
