Dumb Question - Weather

When they say NNE or NNW (North North East/West) wind.

Do they mean blowing to or from that direction.?

Mmmm not sure & depends what diection you're standing in (facing north or south  :-?)
Looking at your delightful pic of the lady in the hat i'd say there was definately a cold wind blowing in a N/S/E/W direction or is she advertising chapel hat pegs?!!  :D

imo, as winds normally dont go curves (except tornados) both to and from doesnt matter..so both true.. ;D
