Anyone have one of these things.Problem is,i dropped it the other day,and the screen went a light shade of pink with vertical lines,and froze.Now when i try and switch it on,it beeps 6 times,and screen is black.Any ideas folks. :-/

Hmm, sounds like the screen cable has become loose which goes from the motherboard (under keyboard) to the screen itself.

Other possibility is a damaged motherboard / graphics card / graphics chip

Providing the screen hasn't smashed (im assuming it hasn't as you didnt say it had!)

No screen still intact ian.I did strip it down and inspect everything,but couldent see any problems. :-/

I would unplug it and remove the battery for 15 mins and then try again.

Failing that (if you checked screen connectors) I would be tempted to say that its damaged the motherboard (assume its onboard graphics which 95% of laptops are). Dead motherboard generally = new laptop. :-/

to me it sounds like you have dislodged the pentuim, or damged the graphic card,, Hi grade are are problematic on there own, the only othere thing that can go wronge is the hard drive, if it was on and running when you droped it could of damaged the run on the drive, would need to try it in another laptop or if you have an adapter for laptop drive to pc the try that.

First question is - what model laptop is it? Hi-grade covers a multitude of sins.

Beeps during boot are the POST beeps - they mean something has gone so catastrophically wrong that the system can't even begin to boot (e.g. it can't see any memory, it can't see the video card etc)

With the model of the laptop you might be able to find out what '6 beeps' means.. although being a laptop, there's a good chance it means "Go to PC World"..

At a rought guess I am going to say its an Intel Motherboard, 6 beeps is:

gate A20 failure:
Check for foreign objects such as screws that may ground the desktop board and make sure the screws that hold the motherboard are not too tight.
Try a different keyboard.
Try a different processor.

Hi-grade is the make Reading around it seems they are mostly rebadged from OEMs like Asus, though.

I agree with freecall666, you may have dislodged the cpu, memory blocks or some other chip or wire. Make sure that all connectors are properly seated. Also if you have an external monitor connect that to the laptop. This will help you in determining how minor or extensive the damage if any.
