Oh, I went on a toll road as well, just as we were hurrying to get the the airport. Pulled up at a booth and the electric window failed. Had to get out of the car to pay the toll, much to the cashier's amusement. >:(

Kevin

Oh yes those toll booths!!

Reminds me of my experience last year when the unmanned booth couldn't obviously give me change for a dollar bill to feed the hopper.  Asked a woman who was obviously part of the set up for change, but she was most unhelpful!  I asked her what I should do as I only had dollar bills; she said you'll have to drive through was her reply!!

I said I'll get fined.......she shrugged her shoulders, and so did I as I drove through with buzzer sounding.  At the next booth that was manned I explained my previous predicament; he said "Don't worry about it!!"

For the rest of the holiday, and until I was past security checks then in the aircraft. I was expecting some cops to flag me down or arrest me for toll evasion!!  But, thank God, nothing happened!! ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'll see what happens when I go through immigration control  when I next get there!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Slightly different,

but when i went around europe in my rover 214sei in 2007 i used several toll roads in france and I paid by Credit card....more so, I paid by credit card with no PIN at all, just put it in, and it popped back out in 10 secs and up went the gate.

Now if i dont have the cash for the Severn bridge into Wales, I'm screwed. they make you turn around and go back to the nearest cashpoint.

Only time they let me off was when i got caught up in those gloucester floods a couple of year ago. Ended up sleeping on the M6 middle lane all night and woke up to traffic moving either side of me and beeping lol.
They let me through after i explained that, with no payment.
But why on earth...cant they include a card system now!! after all these years, now its paid for itself however many times over.

Yes the M5 to Gloucester, then down through Ross was always the best route, but the M4, and the old Severn Bridge, so often beckoned!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)
