Can't bear Laphroig, tastes like battery acid but then I don't like any peaty whisky. Much prefer Irish for some reason in particular Powers gold label, hard to find here but lovely and smooth.

Your mate is correct laphroaig is the best in my opinion, but there are many people with different tastes.

must say that many of those mentioned would make my list! My lad always gets me a small bottle from the "whisky shop" at christmas and they seem to have quite a choice .There are times when I fancy a "peatier" dram and others something a bit smoother/sweeter. Just because I like marmite doesnt mean I dont like honey if you know what I mean. Doesnt necessarily mean that one is " better" than the other. Cheaper end of the market, though Im partial to Jamesons, I think Grouse is the best blended brand. Really do not like the likes of Bells/White Horse. But what do I know, Ive also been known to slug back pocheen.... ;D
