Our big fat lab is fine She loves to sit in the garden watching the world go by, today, with Miss Vamps.
Now she is a soft old thing but there is one dog that she does not like, anyway this dog came along the bottom of the drive, our dog rushed down the drive and on to the road to get to the other side of this dog and crashed into a car, wiped the car clean but damaged the rear wheel arch, car stopped.

Anyway she has been back with her other half to see me tonight after attending a family funeral , we are insured through the House and More Than and as I have paid More Than thousands of pounds looks like I will claim from them. I have given the people the name of a garage that I know and trust who will repair it, or they can choose their own, and I will ring More Than tomorrow, not sure what the protocol is for such things...What can you say? life eh..... always something.......

Spoke to the insurance company this morning, claim would be fine but £200 excess... Why have I paid thousands of pounds over the last 9 years to Insure the bloomin thing? should have just put some money in a 'Pot' to cover vet etc....

Might check out the House Insurance to see what they say..

Yes, I'm coming to the conclusion that lots of these insurances are a waste of money. I was with the AA for 30 years, before changing due to their inability to fit a new alternator. Now 30 years at aprox £100 per year is enough to buy another car, indeed you could buy 2 Migs for that.
Evey bugger is trying the insurance game to screw money out of us, far easier than working for a living.

I agree, we stopped paying for the AA about 6 years ago, so that is £600 or thereabouts, I can get the car recovered cheaper....

We did not insure the cat, he has been to the emergency vets twice at a total of around £600 that is 2 years premium, based on the dogs, and we have had him for 8 years....
My problem is with the Dog that last year the premium was £330 and this year will be more, but as the dog is getting older I can not stop paying for insurance as there is an increasing chance the daft old thing will need treatment...

thats the problem isnt it, you darent be without pet insurance-particularly for dogs-as Vet bills are so expensive and its practically impossible to get older dogs insured at a time when theyre obviously more likely to need some form of treatment, so you have to insure them from a young age. Our GSD costs us about £9 a month (inc liability insurance) from tesco but as several users pointed out on the My Dog forum, it really is worth looking at the small print. PetPlan seems the one most owners would recommend. Anyhow, main thing is that she's ok

One of the problems with a vast amount of dog insurance is that they limit the cover either cronologically or by the amount they wiil pay out.
So if your pooch is in the position of needing long term treatment. The cover is not there. The other problem is that they will not take on existing ailments so you tend to have to stick with the same insurer to get maximum cover if your dog has had a problem in the past.
