Something has gone seriously wrong here (leaving aside Cameron's orginal daft decision to intervene). Nato effectively assasinates one of Gaddafi's sons, who apparently is not involved militarily, and then Hague gets all uptight when our Embassy gets burned out by a spontaneous and angry reaction from the Libyan people.
Thanks to Cameron & Hague, we now witness a competely unmanageable mess, in a country where we should never have been from the start.
in a country where we should never have been from the start
Quite right Nick.
The mission is indeed creeping.
You know, many elements within the 'West' must have a death wish, too much time on their hands, a warped desire to build empires or do something – anything - but govern effectively within their own countries such is their propensity to stick the oar into waters so treacherous that all previous attempts to intervene in that region in the hope of producing satisfactory results for the effort expended, have come to naught.
Once again this country has been placed in a situation that may well have serious consequences for not only those who will be expected to enforce the political will of our government, but also for those of us who will be expected to pay for it in taxes yet to be raised in a world made even more unstable by this ill-advised regional intervention.
It would be laughable were it not so serious.
