.... should be able to be connected to the audio inputs on the surround sound system ....

Just looked, & there aren't any. There's a AV3(OPT) Digital Audio In and a S-Video out

That OPT in on your surround sound should mean that you'll be able to link it with the BlueRay although I would check that they both have the same type of socket before buying a lead (they're not dear anyway).

Doh! They're on the front!  I was looking at the back

Problem solved!  I fixed the Aiwa with a quick blast of air blowing all the dust etc from inside. I gave the lens a wipe with a cotton bud & it worked!
