FIFA = Funny It Falls Apart
« on: 27 May 2011, 11:58:44 »

Mohamed Bin Hammam the challenge to Sepp Blatters iron grip on the presidency has been investigated for corruption a week ahead of the election at the behest, no doubt, of countless Blatter supporters who have been happily riding the gravy train under his corrupt stewardship for decades.

So what do you do if you're Mohamed Bin Hammam and facing suspension and hence leaving the path free for Blatter to get re-elected unopposed like some Middle Eastern or African dictator? simple - you bring counter charges against el Presidente, so we may have the situation whereby the world governing body of the most popular and profitable game on the planet is facing an elction for its head between two candidates who are both suspended pending corruption investigations  ;D ;D ;D

Brilliant.  :y

It looks like Warner's screwed, he didn't just demand the TV rights for Haiti, he confirmed the request by email.  ::)

Blatter is a rasist anyway  :'(

Remember his little rant a few years back about England being a nation of shop keepers  >:(

Only way forward is to dispand the organisation and start afresh  :y

Fifa reminds me of the european song contest.   ::)

Agree with all you say, TG  :)

On the 'Panorama' programme on this subject this week, David Mellor said something I completely agree with for the very first time ( ;)) - tear it all down and start again - its the only way.

The blatant freeloading and obstruction of justice that must be at least tacitly sanctioned by the wholly odious Blatter must end, and soon.

I agree, destroy and rebuild. You need open elections, open voting on matters like where the World Cup is held, you also need delegates explaining their reasoning for each venue (Qatar ffs??) you need more whistleblowers, trouble for FIFA is now that England has finally realised that they will never get awarded a World Cup anytime soon, the gloves are off and all the previous double dealings and murky money grabbing behaviour that was swept under the carpet is being brought to light  ::)

I hope Blatter and his cronies are squirming  ;)

If this is proved, I wonder if they will make the decisions to host the next 2 world cups void ?

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/blatter-noshow-at-wembley-2290497.html

Jack Warner admitting that the whole thing stinks (and boy would he know).....so if he has all this information, why isnt he going to the authorities? Well done Mr Warner - you've just screwed yourself in a bid to save your ass by confessing inadvertently to dodgy dealings :o :o

Sources have told The Independent on Sunday that any suggestion Blatter had prior knowledge of the bribes-for-votes scandal is wide of the mark. The case against Bin Hammam and Warner is said to be more compelling. As he left for Zurich last night, Warner said he had nothing to fear and warned he would bring down others with him if thrown out.

"In the next couple of days you will see a football tsunami that will hit Fifa and the world that will shock you," said Warner. "The time has come when I must stop playing dead so you'll see it, it's coming, trust me."

oh, and Bin Hamman bails out of the election, leaving Blatter - the incumbent, to stand alone.....except if hes suspended today (and surprisingly its a mainly independent panel), FIFA rules require the election to be scrapped - what a mess  ;)

I don't confess to know much about how football is run but why don't some countries form a breakaway governing body. ?

Might be a bit awkward for International matches or the world cup but otherwise they could bring in new technology like "hawkeye" for goal or not, Ref headset, instant stadium replay OR whatever is thought appropriate.

Do European countries actually need FIFA ? He reminds me of a dinasaur ;D

I get the distinct feeling that its only us, maybe the yanks, canadians and aussies who give a flying football - the rest (all 200+ of them) are quite happy to remain seated in the first class carriage of the Royal Bisto Express  :y

Although I've no interest in the sport or its world governing body, this has been an interesting story and a prime example of the modern European (particurlarly) way of doing business.

Manipulate things to suit yourself – by any means necessary - and when objections are raised about the conduct of your behaviour ignore them and insist that things are all right and that there’s no need for any one to worry.

Yet another cluster opps on the road to moral oblivion.

although what is happening now is Coca-Cola and Adidas - two of FIFA's largest sponsors (to the tune of £500m from Coke alone!!) are beginning to voice disquiet over this whole trouble, thanks in no small part to a twitter campaign targetting them to question FIFA.......the FIFA Spring revolution is at hand!!  ;D
