I cant help having a sneaking admiration for the crusty old tinker.Its refreshing to see someone not obsessed with PR and PC these days. ;)

Several years ago; I did actually (briefly) meet the 'D of E' at an informal private event (in circumstances where his attendance had not been made public): he was witty, interesting/interested and very charming. ;)

one of my favourites of his was at a state dinner on tour, when seated next to a Paraguan dignitary with the obligatory raft of shiny medals, Philip, recognising one of the medals from his Navy days said to the gentleman "I wasn't aware Paraguay fought in the Second World War?"  ;D ;D ;D
