If the fiesta quote includes your son as a named driver thats where the increased premium comes from

no, his mate was quoted 17000 on a £400 car. raymonds stereo equipment is worth more than the car. it looks like a mobile disco now.  and he thinks i'm gonna drive that, yeah right  ;D ;D

hes actually driving me bonkers with all the car talk  while i have to live with them. but hes quite clued up on everything by coming on here and his boy racer fiesta website

I think it may be the area you are in. My Omega was £240ish nippers Saxo for me to insure TPFT with no no claims was £350ish.
For nipper to insure on his own £3300.00 TPFT and yes we paid it.

i told him a 1.2 was too big an engine for his first car but he knows best, as we did when we were young but was a lot different 30yrs ago

HOW much  :o :D
Unless you have a dirty licence or are very young and inexperienced change companies or just accept being ripped by them....its not a hard choice.
For my insurance I pay 280 fully comp with all their added extras apart from the AA recovery options (I use Green Flag full package for 8.94 a month) for my 3.0 Elite.
No frikkin way would I pay what you are.........
Change it m8 ASAP and enjoy the savings by spoiling yourself ( or send it to me ;D) :y
As for where they get their quotes from, they try to make it as high as you will stand and when you complain sometimes find a cheaper option as a goodwill gesture AND THEN STILL RIP YOU anyway!
F em off...........you will be far happier if you do.

I did a quote for just 3rd Party the other day (as my excess for fully comp is pretty much the value of the car)...

Bearing in mind that I currently pay £380 for my insurance I was expecting around the £250 mark for just straight 3rd Party (no fire or theft)...  The cheapest quote I got was £420!!!   and over £500 with my current insurer (thankfully I have 7 months until my renewel)...

The price of insurance is based upon risk (ie number and size of claims), so if TPFT claims are higher than fully comp, then you can end up with these anomalies.

If you are getting quotes off an aggregator websites like Money Supermarket. Confused, Go Compare, Comparethemarket, Quotezone etc., then try several aggregators as they all charge insurers different commission rates and have different commission structures, which is reflected in the price, but to keep them approximately same across all aggregators, the insurers generally change terms, particularly the excesses. Once you have chosen an insurance company, it always worth getting a quote directly off their website.
