looking at the size of the trailer i would say its nearer 60 ton and even that would have broken the rear axle!!

38tons most with a 44t max using rail or something. 5% allowed for such loads for water ingress.

trailers like that are used in the uk for lighter bulk loads (wood chippings)

average max axle load is 8t, so the tri axle area or the trailer could of been 24 x 4=96t

So even if he did manage to cross the bridge still it was a matter of time before the axle gave up!  :( :(
