ive never had to que up at the post office, as long as you dont get there for opening time cause all the coffin dodgers are there at 7am waiting for it to open.  ;D ;D ;D
You are lucky you don't have to go to Bletchley Post Office then.  Bletchley is a special kind of place, full of fat old slags, 15yrs old, 4 kids, you get the picture.  I was in the postoffice the other day there, it was queuing out the door, they had one till open. I got served eventually, then she closed her till. Yes, leave NONE open, yet still queuing out the door.  It was not closing time, it was around lunchtime.

Thus, I always get it online, saves digging out the MOT and insurance certs.

It's just as bad in Central Milton Keynes.  They have a ticket system of queueing.  Tends to be a half hour wait.  Meanwhile, I just take in the sights and aromas!  Surely, tax payers should get fast tracked to the front of the queue?  It would hardly make a difference to the rest of the people since I appear to be the only one paying anyway!

I had a mate at university from Bletchley.

I once found him in the kitchen looking puzzled, holding a box with a frozen pie in it. I turned the box over to reveal the cooking instructions and it was like a light turned on inside his head.. Until he asked how you "pre-heat" an oven. ::)

He once took offence at a newspaper article that referred to it as the "sad little town of Bletchley". ;D

An old neighbour (student) of ours when we were at Uni was as bad, they rented a video recorder (granada used to do a student Tv and video package dead cheap using old life expired rental machines) and we convinced her that you didn't need to take the cassette out of the box to put it in the player as it was some super modern one, she spent hours trying to get it in!  ;D

YES, it is legal and you should have had a receipt that you could print off too.
I have done this every year and it never a problem because the fact that it is taxed shows up immediately on the ANPR thingy the bobby's use and also on the national database.
Just go on as normal...... :y

No, it is not legal. The offence is 'failure to display a tax disc'.  The online exception being as specified earlier.  I don't give a rat's arse what you heard down the pub from your mates mothers brothers dogs cousins owner.

Anyone trying to say otherwise is wrong, and irresponsibly opening up members to possible prosecution by trying to make out it is fact.

Of course, whether you would get caught is a different matter, and I suspect you'd be suffering from your own attitude issues should the police take it further. But the law is quite clear on this. You must display a valid tax disc at all times the car is on the road, except in the very specific instance of ordering by phone/internet before your previous one ran out, and this exemption is only from 1st to 5th of the month. It matters not if you have bought one, or lost it, or had your homework chewed by the dog.

If you need a tax disc immediately, there are ways, such as local DVLA office.

Is there a university here? Or is the that Open Uni?

Doubt Bletchley would allow anyone to enter its borders unless they were born in Bletchley or London, and had married their siblings...
