Why??
Easy to answer that one is...But why just the senior management?
Its because they are all civil servants with gold plated lifestyles and pensions only we can dream about and the added luxury of not being accountable for their actions.
Sacked? How about shot instead as a lesson of what future failure to to do their jobs right will incur?
Frikkin parasites with no sympathy or empathy for the rest of those whom they cause problems for is all they are. I am surprised they do not get bonuses for it too.....or do they???? ::)

Trouble is you can make it up.

Like I always say, no one ever gets sacked. In fact they pay themselves bonuses because they get so much grief (can you imagine working in the revenue call centre). Cost of failure work. If they got it right in the first instance folk wouldn't have to ring in or be re assessed

Not wishing to open up debates we have already had:

MOD procurement billions spent and "lost"
Health billions spent on a new computer system to be scrapped. Billions spent on other stuff that hasn't really worked
Banks billions spent on life support
Tax man billions lost.

If the average housewife ran her home like that everyone would be on social support or in debtors prison.

But hey it is Bank Holiday weekend so lets chill and just keep paying. Blood pressure will be normal again by Tuesday. :y

I could not read the original link, my computer came up with a fault... ::) ::)
However, I get the jist of the concern and would like to add my tuppence worth....

Tax Credits / Child Tax credits.......the people who operate this system should be removed from their posts with immediate effect, imo.... >:(

This year I have given up making any further claims, we always seem to have a problem each year, how?
swmbo and I are employed and paid a salary, we provide this information, they work out any payment, so how the hell can we repeatedly be told they paid us wrongly and will claw some back the following year... >:( >:( >:(

We are even this year so I have decided to make no further claims, even if entitled.... ::) ::) ::)

Sorry, personal rant.... ::) ::)

NO ONE GETS SACKED FROM THE CIVIL SERVICE ..i mean no one...unless they are guilty of something really bad....i.e sharon shoesmith...both me (i have left now) and the other half have worked/work for the civil service and there are work shy so many work shy incompetent people that work with the  other half....if they worked for me i would bounce them down the road...needs someone like tescos to run it..no work = no pay  :y

Vamps - do what we do and send the copies of your P60's and other income proof copies in with the application.
Since we started doing that years ago there has never been any problems. In fact most years we get a nice little extra bit too (near 300 this year).
But always, always do it by poost and do not be conned into doing it over the phone cos it always ends in disaster due to their language difficulties and wierd accents. We learned that to our cost but eventually got over 5 grand back! No apology though.... :(

I doubt they are legally owed that amount, its the crap computer system that keeps dreaming up figures.

For example, one year I came to do my return, used the password from last year, it didn't work so I phoned up and asked for a password. The one they sent didn't work, so I phoned up again and asked for a password. The one they sent didn't work, so .....

4 times they sent the wrong one, I eventually managed to get on line to do it, by which time my return was now late so they gave me a £100 fine.  This is prob where the vast majority of their uncollected dosh comes from, someone saw the possibility of raising lots of extra cash by making the computer system so useless that they could hit us with fines.

This year I was trying again to get it to work, I attached the return in PDF format, as you are allowed to do, but got the error message "Warning you have attached a PDF file, but have not ticked the box  to say you are attaching a PDF file". And the follow up letter I received, suggests someone is not very good on grammar or comprehension of what they wrote.
