Calibra annoyance

Help please has anybody got any idea why she who must be obeyed's Calibra has an intermittent problem the engine management light comes on when when sitting in traffic goes out when driving both camshaft and crankshaft censors have been replaced. When put on tech 1 message says camshaft incorrect signal recieved no one seems able to rectify the problem. Its costing me a fortune :-/

genuine vauxhall as far as I am aware

I would sell it in a heartbeat but she absolutely loves it she would beat me to death with the soggy end of my own dismembered arm :-/

I'm assuming it's a 2.0 Ecotec X20XEV?

Might be worth checking the loom routing as well.

when you say wiring loom do you mean all of it

The loom that the cam sensor plugs into. Some Ecotec's had issues with the shielding breaking down on the cable.

The crankshaft sensor cable was badly broken up but has now been replaced with the sensor but did not cure problem

Re-route the cam and cranks ensors cables away from the alternator

Other thing to check is the cambelt timing and tension

MAke sure the cranck sensor is sat square in its hole.

And a final thing, jusy make sure the cam sensor is properly seated and closeish to the cam sprocket

The sensor connector terminal block changed on these requiring the new item to be spliced into the original loom. If it has been soldered there could be a dry joint causing a higher impedance .
Were they like for like replacements ?

Thanks guys for your help  :y I'll give it a try its doing my head in its been going on now for about a year and making er indoors unhappy which is not good

As you guys said it turned out to be dodgy cranckshaft sensor, vx sensor now fitted. Found maf sensor also not working I've replaced that now and all is well (fingers crossed) thanks for all your help it was invaluable :y
