It never Ceases To Amaze Me!!!!!!
« on: 26 December 2009, 13:12:43 »

Almost every advert I see on ebay includes the following line~~good runner with sport button automatic gear box.
Surely, ALL Omegas with an AUTO box had the sport button?
Unless I am incorrect, and If I am I am sure you all out there will correct me.

 .......

ALL recent-ish 'proper auto' Vauxhalls have the sports & snow setting on the gearbox. SWMBO's 52 Astra did as did the Senators & Carltons from years back .......

i presume the add is written for those not aware of omega auto refinements, ie most manual drivers....?

It's the eGay ad's stating "very rare 3.2 auto..." knowing full well they aren't rare at all!

It's all a ploy to sell what they have. I prefer to tell it how it is & be honest :)

i just think back to my own experience when i bought my own first omega. Coming from a mostly bike background with the odd manual Mondeo, Escort, Cavalier thrown in i didnt know much about autos.

I saw the spec level of the omega and was suitably impressed, but then "OH!.... its an auto" :( "oh....hang on whats that button on the top, sport mode? wooo lets take that for a spin....sold to the big fat bloke with the still shaking Mrs. ;D

The one I like is the "rare" manual 3.0 MV6, excuse me - that was actually standard !

I bought both my previous Omegas 'nearly new' at a car supermarket. The cars are on display, no sales people around, you take the keys from the sales desk and have a look at the car yourself. Once done, it is a take-it-or-leave it situation - there is no haggling and no one to talk to or ask questions... I prefer it this way, because there is no pressure to buy, and at any rate any reply I will get from a used car salesman is likely be rubbish... so I prefer to do my homework and make my own mind about a car without being told that it is 'rare', a 'good runner', etc etc....
