Well, the problem with MoT's is that they only cover what was seen on that day. If the car was then used on the Dakar rally the next day it may well have faults, but not the fault of the MoT peeps!

Interestingly, it has a knocking noise from the front which I suspect is the ball joint. Previous owner tells me it failed its first moT in Juuary this year on a ball joint. So they changed the wishbone - and it has knocked ever since! TAKE IT BACK!!!!!!

Whatever, I will change that wishbone again and obviously will do the other side as I only do wheels in pairs.

Ok, update. Having just spoken at length with the dealer, they are giving me £300 back. I am happy at that as it will cover all my costs and the car is a good one. I could have gone the legal route, but may/may not have got more or a penny! Some times it is better the devil you know......

Will I then stitch them up? No.

Bottom line here. I have absolutely no proof of who changed the service history. I do know that the original owner traded it in to a VX main agent. When he gave them the history it had the one stamp. They have confirmed that when it went to auction it had one stamp.

The car was sold by BCA auctions in Peterborough and I bought it from a dealer in Peterborough a month later.

I think we all have a good idea who may have added in a colourful service history, but I cannot acuse anyone or prove anything. So, with that in mind I think I have a reasonble outcome.

Original price of the car was £3490. I paid £3100 and have now got another £300 back. The car ios fine apart from fornt suspension and wheel bearings. Thye offer was by all accounts a genuine one and is in a way hush money I suppose, but fairs fair, they have (as far as I am concerned) resolved this to my satisfaction.

I will not be naming and shaming.

Fair play Fin  :y

I know when i bought my veccyB....garage told me no warranty as i was gonna use it as a taxi and did get it cheap.....but did say bring it back if its got issues within the next month.....i did coz it was missing on lpg.....they had a go but didnt cure it.....so i took it to vx dealer (had the lpg kit to deal with) £120 later vx dealer had sorted it.....and checked the veccy over for me as well.....took the bill back to orig dealer i bought it off and asked for part payment.....owner off garage had no prob with parting with £50.....which i thought was fair....seeing as i didnt ask him first if i could take it to vx to get it sorted

Quite amazed really vx dealer found the prob......but there you go  ::)
