Just Picked up my New Estate
« on: 23 June 2007, 15:18:53 »

I'm pleased to announce that after a long train ride, I have now collected and paid for my new 3.0 Elite Estate. Thanks to R Welfare on here. Here she is:

What can I say - this is an absolutely stunning car, and for the £250 I paid, must be the bargain of the month  :y

And... even more.... it's a 3.0 Engine, with a MANUAL GEARBOX!!

The black leather is pristine, as it the whole condition of the car. The only thing that lets it down is 2 rusty doors, but that's certainly reflected in the price I paid. If they were fixed / replaced, it would be mint through and through. It's JUST had £400 spent on it before I picked up, including genuine GM camcover gaskets, new cambelt kit, new water pump, new aux belt and tensioner..

It's got all the Elite Toys, a big dog guard (useful), CD changer, and everything I can find works.

A 3.0 manual should be very fast.. this one feels a tad flat at low revs. However, a local garage did the timing belt, so I suspect it's not timed up perfectly. I will be looking at that this afternoon, when the engine cools down a bit.

As far as the oil leak goes - well, I've done 147 miles, and the level hasn't dropped. It is sitting on the sump though, so I will need to investigate.

Economy - WOW - I didn't know a manual would make such a considerable difference. I put £15 in from the red light when I got it... then Normal driving, from Newbury, to Swindon, Cirencester, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Newent, Ross on Wye, Newport and then cardiff - total 147 miles.. the red light came on just as I came into Cardiff. that's an average of almost 40mpg!!! MID read 39.

I was thinking initially of breaking or profiting from this car, but it's beaten my expectations, so I may consider keeping it...SWMBO would appreciate it's carrying space too  ::)

It's insured till Tuesday, so I'll run it until then, and then make my decision.

My Elite Saloon may be up for sale soon!

Looking forwards to going out and having a play, in a min ;D ;D

Cheers Rich, Top car, thanks very much  :y  8-)

Well personally I would keep it. :)
Estates are very handy (all the car kit you can carry!) and in manual form, even more so. :)

I've seen Richard's (ex) car and agree its a splendid example.  Quite low miles as I recall for its advanced years.

Would be a shame to break it for sure.

The oil leak should be rectified tomorrow...

Make me an offer, maybe I won't be able to refuse...

Bad enough to want a couple of new doors unfortunately.

Otherwise, the car is a minter...
